Klara Johnson
Klara Johnson has been teaching cake decorating since 1988 and has travelled to many parts of North America and the Caribbean teaching cake decoration and sugar craft. She has created cakes for Wedding Bells magazine, TV movies (The Piano Man and The Judy Garland Story), and a wedding featured in Wedluxe magazine showcased the cake she designed for the event.
She has also appeared on CityLine and has demonstrated at international conferences. She has authored two publications – one on wedding cakes and the other on gum paste flower making. One of her most recent projects was a replica, in cake, of the sculpture featured at Cambridge City Hall. A five time gold medalist and one time silver medalist in Wedding Cakes and Sugar Showpiece in Canada’s Bakery Showcase, she now judges and enjoys mentoring and guiding students in their quest to rise to the top. Many of her students have gone on to open their own shops. Klara has taught at George Brown College in Toronto and is currently on faculty at Conestoga College in Waterloo teaching in the Pastry Arts Program.
The Bake Shop is a new addition to Klara`s cake business and she is passionate about bringing the best of scratch baking to Cambridge and the surrounding areas.
